Minneapolis – (April 22, 2013) – Seeing the need for a supplemental resource to help manage and alleviate pain in pediatric patients both inside and outside the hospital, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Ridgeview Medical Center, and pediatric non-profit development organization DesignWise Medical have collaborated to create the Healing Buddies Comfort Kit™ mobile app. The app is available for download now for $4.99 on iTunes and in the Apple App Store. Pain and Palliative Program earns top honors from the American Pain Society.

Minneapolis, Minn. – (March 22, 2013) – Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota announced today it was named a 2013 Center of Excellence in Pain Management – a prestigious honor awarded by the American Pain Society – for its innovative and integrated approach to managing pain. The designation, which is presented annually to select hospitals across the country, recognizes state-of-the-art, patient-centered pain management programs that demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach and not only treat children’s pain, but the whole patient, helping improve function and overall quality of life.

Minneapolis, Minn. – (Feb. 19, 2013) – Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and Andrew Zimmern are teaming up to promote healthy eating and living for kids in the local community. Together, they will introduce healthy, kid-friendly recipes developed by Andrew and reviewed by Children’s dieticians on the Kids’ Health Blog twice a month and collaborate on various healthy food initiatives aimed at the communities surrounding Children’s two hospitals.

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that in partnership with West Bend and Kincaid’s, last week’s Wild About Children event raised $140,000 for the Minnesota Wild Foundation and Children’s of Minnesota. Over a period of nine years, the Wild About Children event has contributed more than $800,000 in support of Children’s of Minnesota.

Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Proudly Announce 11 Babies Born During The Mother Baby Center's Grand Opening Day

Minneapolis, Minn. - (Feb. 6, 2013) - Abbott Northwestern and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota today announced the arrival of baby Gemma as The Mother Baby Center's first new baby. Born Feb. 4 at 11:20 a.m. by water birth, Gemma was 7 pounds, 6 ounces and 21 inches long. Gemma was joined by 10 other babies, all born during The Mother Baby Center's grand opening day.

In addition, Children's and Abbott Northwestern moved all of the babies and mothers from the old facility at Abbott Northwestern into new rooms at The Mother Baby Center. With the support of clinical staff, hospital leadership and specialized moving planners, many of these patients were moved via the quarter-mile underground tunnel from Abbott Northwestern to The Mother Baby Center.
