Chicago Deli fire update

There was a fire at the Chicago Deli, a business that neighbors our Minneapolis campus. There was no damage to our facilities and, most importantly, no Children's patients, families or staff were harmed. The smoke did impact our facilities closest to the Chicago Deli. Infection prevention and environmental services are working together to monitor air quality and have begun cleaning rooms and equipment affected by smoke and residue.

We have postponed all Minneapolis elective surgical, radiology and laboratory services for the day. All Minneapolis outpatient clinics are closed until noon today, but the emergency department remains open. We are making every effort to notify all impacted patient families. We will continue to share update on this site, and Facebook throughout the day.

Minneapolis Outpatient Clinics Closed until Noon Today

At approximately 3:30 a.m., our neighbor, the Chicago Avenue Deli, reported a fire. No Children's staff, patients or families were harmed and currently there is minimal risk. Additionally, there is no physical damage to our facilities. As a precautionary measure, at this time, all outpatient clinics are closed until noon today. Please follow up with your provider for more detailed information. We have also postponed all elective surgery, radiology and laboratory services for the day. The designation, which is presented annually to select hospitals across the country, recognizes state-of-the-art, patient-centered pain management programs that demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach and not only treat children’s pain, but the whole patient, helping improve function and overall quality of life.

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that in partnership with West Bend and Kincaid’s, last week’s Wild About Children event raised $140,000 for the Minnesota Wild Foundation and Children’s of Minnesota. Over a period of nine years, the Wild About Children event has contributed more than $800,000 in support of Children’s of Minnesota.
